Started reading -- The Path of Least Resistance: Learning to Become the Creative Force in Your Own Life
I started reading the book The Path of Least Resistance: Learning to Become the Creative Force in Your Own Life by Robert Fritz. I came across this book on social media, and the way it was presented intrigued me. Or maybe it was the title that intrigued me – I don't quite remember now.
By reading, I mean listening of course - I haven't read a book in a while (audio or physical), but what's easiest for me now is listening to audiobooks by far. It just fits into my life more – I can listen while I drive, while I work out (although it's not that easy to concentrate properly when I'm working out), while I walk, and many other places. I typically use Audible.
I am about 3 chapters in – am just hitting the third chapter. It's a pretty old book - it was written in 1989, but in many ways it feels quite timeless. So far, I'm getting the sense that this will be a very unique and interesting read. It feels very different to anything I've read before.
The core premise appears to be that we as humans follow the path of least resistance, as does everything else in nature pretty much. Rivers follow the path of least resistance. Animals follow the path of least resistance. Even electric circuits seemingly follow the path of least resistance. Acknowledging this seems to yield to some interesting conclusions per the book - if you understand that things will always follow the path of least resistance, you may be more inclined to stop wasting your time and energy on fighting a losing/uphill battle; instead, you may be more inclined to change the structures of your life so that the path of least resistance changes.
Structure. The structures of your life. That's the other core part of the book, it seems - the book notes that the structures of our lives determine our lives. It's the structure of things that determines the path of least resistance (e.g., the structure of a riverbank; the structure of a landscape, etc.), which we inherently follow. Stop trying to put in immense effort to go against the natural way things will flow based on the current structure of things the book appears to instruct the reader – instead, use your energy to crate; use your energy to be a creative force in your life and change the structure of your life so that the path of least resistance moves you to do the things you want to do (or live the way you want to live, etc.).
This all makes sense so far to me, but it's still quite early. Just starting Chapter 3, so there's a lot more to it, I'm sure. I'm skeptical by nature, but so far this seems like a book with a lot of potential (if one is able to summon the energy and creative forces to actually change the structures of his/her life, which may not be that easy).
